The Geneva International Fiction Film Festival (Festival Tous Ecrans)
published the list of international movies and series to be crenned during the
festival from November 2-8, 2012. The webseries Mamnou3!, produced by the
SKeyes Center for Media and Cultural Freedom, was nominated for the “Best 2012
web-series” award, along with 15 other series from the United States,
Australia, Canada, Mexico, France, Italy, Spain and Denmark. Mamnou3! will be screened on November 3 at 5:30 pm in the Grütli
Langlois movie theater. A discussion between the audience, SKeyes director Ayman
Mhanna Mamnou3!’s executive producer Nadim Lahoud will follow. Mamnou3! is the first web-series of its kind in the Arab World; this
satirical comedy describes the inner-workings at the General Security’s
censorship bureau. The webseries has been met with remarkable success with over
50,000 views on its website www.mamnou3.com, YouTube (www.youtube.com/mamnou3tube)
and Cinemoz (www.cinemoz.com). Major international media outlets such as The
New York Times and Al-Arabiya, local channels and Spanish, British,
Italian and French dailies devoted several pages to the series, which represented
a significant development in the fight against censorship in Lebanon. The webseries was directed by Nina Najjar and written by Camille
Salameh. It consists of ten episodes, starring Paul Mattar, Lareine Khoury,
Razane Jammal, Bassel Madi, Rami Atallah, Elie Bassila, and Habib Demian. The web-series
was launched on July 1, 2012 with the support of the European Union. |
