Her turn II, supporting women in journalism in reporting about Climate Change

Wednesday , 10 August 2022

Workshop-series for female journalists from Lebanon, northeastern Syria and Iraq.

21 online-seminars, from October 2022 to August 2023, including a kick of workshop in Iraq plus a journalistic exchange in Berlin in summer 2023.

Due to its geographical location the Middle East is one of the regions most affected by climate change worldwide. Despite the urgency of the issue, it is rather underrepresented in local media. Over a period of one year, a network of 15 experienced women journalists from Lebanon, northeastern Syria and Iraq is to:

a) receive training in environmental journalism

b) facilitate exchange with international environmental experts

c) work on solution-oriented environmental issues across countries

d) publish nationally and internationally on environmental issues.

15 female journalists will be invited to exchange their experiences and increase their professionalism.

The seminar will take place mainly online. There will be psychical kick-off-meeting in Erbil plus a stay in Berlin in summer 2023. Here the participants will meet journalists, politicians, public stakeholders and experts.
