On November 21, 2011, Mustafa Osso, a lawyer, human rights
defender and President of the “Kurdish Organization for Defending Human Rights
and Public Freedoms (DAD)”, was arrested by Syrian authorities in the province
of Al-Hassakah, after he appeared before its “passports and travel” office to
renew his passport.
An arrest warrant was issued against him by the political security directorate of Damascus and he was transferred to the directorate of Al-Hassakah. He was released several hours later and was ordered to appear before the political security directorate of Damascus within two days.
